Guidance for Visiting Golf Societies and Visitors

As a general rule, casual green fee visitors will not be permitted to play as detailed below, unless by special arrangement and if the course is clear:
Weekdays before 10am & between 12 noon and 2pm
Saturdays before 2pm
Sundays before 10am
Weekend Competition Days until 4pm

It is the responsibility of the Secretary / Organiser of the Society to ensure that all their members visiting this Golf Club are aware of the following regulations:

The Club
Cooden Beach Golf Club can be located of the A259 Eastbourne to Hastings road, clearly signposted at the Little Common Roundabout. Click here for Map / Route Finder.

Bookings
Bookings must be confirmed in writing by completion of the reservation form not less than four weeks prior to the date reserved.  A non-refundable deposit of 5.00 per head is required to confirm the date requested.  Minimum number 12.  Final confirmation of numbers attending is required not less then 5 working days prior to the event, after which it is regretted that no reduction in the agreed charges can be made should fewer players attend.

Playing Arrangements
Starting times will be allocated at 6 minute intervals, and should be adhered to strictly on the day.  Yellow tee boxes should be used.  Please advise your members not to use the white tees, unless previously agreed with the Secretary.   Handicap certificates are required.  Arrange for your faster golfers to lead the field.  Play must proceed at a reasonable pace.  On greens, it is time wasting for a player to putt when he cannot score in a Stableford Competition.  A starting sheet must be lodged with the Secretary/Steward before play commences.

Changing Rooms
Valuables should not be left in the changing rooms.  Visitors are advised that the Club does not accept responsibility for equipment or valuables left in or around the Clubhouse and Car Park.  Visitors are requested not to change in the car park.

Clubhouse Facilities
The Clubhouse is open from 8:00 am from which time coffee is served in the Lounge.

Dress
A reasonable standard of dress is expected of all golfers. Tailored shorts are allowed with knee length socks or white above ankle length socks.   Approved golf shoes must be worn.  Jeans, denims, tee-shirts, track suits and trainers are not acceptable either on the course or in the Clubhouse at any time

In the Clubhouse
Jackets and ties must be worn at all times in the Dining Room and in the Mixed Lounge on Sundays.   At all other times, smart casual dress is permitted, but this excludes jeans, denims, open necked shirts without collars, tee shirts, track suits and trainers.   Ladies are asked to be suitably attired in accordance with the above.

Spike Bar Area
The Spike Bar area is the main lounge/bar. Members may use this area wearing golf shoes and smart casual attire, including tailored shorts.

Etiquette
All golfers are requested to observe the standards of etiquette with particular reference to: Slow Play - Repair of pitch marks on greens - Replacement of Divots Removals of Marks in Bunkers - Rakes must be replaced after use.

Security
The Committee will not accept responsibility for loss or damage to any property left on the Club premises.  There is an access code number from entry into the locker room which changes on a regular basis.  This number can be obtained from the Professional.

Car parks
Please use the top car park which is signposted.  The lower car park is for members.   Access to the 10th tee is via a track to a parking area.  This is also signposted.

Mobile phones
Mobile phones may not be used in the Clubhouse or on the course.  It is accepted that there is a need for mobile telephones to be carried by some people because of their employment.  We also ask that in those cases the ringing tone be set to a silent mode in order to alleviate annoyance to other golfers.

Snooker
Visitors may use the snooker facilities, we have two tables, subject to table availability.  Light meters are used.

Trolleys
Trolleys can be hired from the Professional.  During the Winter months please check beforehand with the Professional as to whether or not trolleys are permitted.

Buggies
We have a small number of buggies which are available for hire.  The cost for this vehicle is £25.00 per round or £35.00 for the day.

Professional
The Club Professional and the Club maintain an excellent range of items suitable for prizes, and will be pleased to assist in any way necessary.
